Pike County Breakdown

I chose backup musicians who could help me transcribe as close as possible the original Flatt and Scruggs Mercury recording released in May 1952. I called this group of performers "Clear Channel" named after WWVA Radio located in Wheeling, WV. The ensemble Clear Channel consists of Dave Richardson-5 String Banjo and Mandolin, Dean Knight-Bass, Elias Schwartzman-Fiddle, and Calvin Anderson-Guitar.

As a kid I listened to Jimmy Martin every night which was broadcast on nearby WWVA Radio. I pretended I could play like a young J.D. Crowe who then lived near Wheeling, WV. Musicians in this effort are Dave Richardson-5 String Banjo and Mandolin, Dean Knight-Bass, Blaine Sprouse-Fiddle, and Bob Fitch-Guitar
